Artist Feature: Elizabeth Alice | A Modern Take on Chinoiserie Elegance
Share
We’re delighted to introduce Elizabeth Alice, one of the featured artists in The KP Art Collective’s debut Group Show, launching November 22 at 10:00 AM ET. Her work will also take center stage again on January 31, 2026, with an extended feature of her exquisite chinoiserie pieces.
Inspired by Beauty and Memory
“Simply put, I love lovely things,” Elizabeth says. Her art celebrates the elegance of everyday beauty—flowers from her garden, vintage dishes, and heirloom treasures—each infused with personal sentiment. “It’s the feeling that I remember from those objects and places, not just their form and color, that I try to capture.”
Her pieces reflect both her French and Chinese heritage, blending traditional painting influences with a modern sensibility. “I paint chinoiserie scenes that reference traditional Chinese painting techniques,” she explains, “but I use paints that have only been developed in the last century. I’m half Chinese and half French—so ‘chinoiserie’ is me!”
The Artist Behind the Brush
Elizabeth’s timeless taste and love for beauty are lifelong passions. “I still love the same movies I watched in middle school,” she laughs. “And when I was a teenager studying abroad, everyone else went to discotheques while I bought plates and teacups as souvenirs.”
When she’s not in the studio, Elizabeth can be found tending her garden or snuggling with her family at the end of the day. Her children are her biggest fans, always curious and impressed by whatever she’s creating.
Art Rooted in Connection
For Elizabeth, every painting is a reflection of relationships and shared moments. Her coastal scenes recall summers with family; her still lifes include cherished pieces once belonging to her grandmothers and great-grandmothers. Each painting continues its story when it enters a collector’s home.
“When someone collects one of my paintings, that piece acquires new stories every day that it’s a part of their lives,” she says. “The story is always growing and evolving.”
A Creative Community
Elizabeth credits much of her growth to the artists and collectors around her. “Being around great artists teaches me how to see differently and makes me better,” she shares. “Collectors also push me in new directions—it becomes a collaboration.”
Her creative path began in fashion design—she holds a bachelor’s degree in the field—but she later found her true home in painting. “Even the experiences that didn’t seem connected at the time gave me valuable skills,” she reflects.
