Featured in our November 22nd Group Show
This November, the KP Art Collective is delighted to feature the multi-media coastal work of Catherine Husek, an artist whose joyful spirit and eye for vintage detail bring new life to familiar seaside icons—lobsters, fish, and treasures from the shore.
A Blend of Nostalgia and Seaside Magic
Catherine’s newest collection draws inspiration from her childhood summers in New England and North Carolina, where the rhythm of waves and the charm of seaside towns left a lasting imprint. “My love of vintage treasures and all things coastal, along with those childhood memories, have inspired this collection,” she shares. “It’s a blend of nostalgia, seaside charm, and a bit of whimsy that tells a story.”
That story unfolds across her layered, mixed-media pieces—each one capturing the joy and wonder of coastal life through texture, pattern, and playful composition. Whether it’s the glint of a lobster shell or the curve of a sea-worn fish, Catherine’s work radiates warmth, curiosity, and a love of discovery.
Rooted in Gratitude and Community
Behind her creative energy is a deep sense of gratitude. “Each piece I create comes from a place of gratitude and joy,” Catherine says. “Knowing my art becomes part of someone’s home and story is the greatest reward.”
Her sense of community runs strong—nurtured by family, collectors, and fellow artists alike. “My family is incredibly supportive, but my loudest cheerleader by far is my eldest daughter,” she notes. “She encouraged me years ago to take my art seriously.” Catherine also thrives in connection with other artists, describing how her art groups and online community “continually lift me up and motivate me to keep growing.”
A Life Filled with Wonder
When Catherine isn’t in her studio, she’s likely outdoors—birdwatching or rummaging through antique shops for hidden gems. Her favorite moments often involve the simple beauty of God’s creation, or the excitement of spotting a rare bird in her own backyard.
And when it’s time to unwind, you’ll find her in the kitchen cooking for friends and family. “I love to cook and entertain,” she laughs, though she admits that a classic chicken pot pie might just be her ultimate comfort dish.
The Heart Behind the Work
As an early-morning creator, Catherine finds peace and inspiration in the quiet light of dawn. She paints until she feels that “quiet sense of knowing” that a piece is ready—though she admits, quoting da Vinci, that “art is never finished, only abandoned.”
Each painting is more than pigment and texture—it’s an invitation to pause, reflect, and celebrate the beauty and whimsy of the world we share.
